Hey my peeps, it’s 15 minutes past our extended curfew, but I figured I should get some real blogging in before I forget!!
First off, these kids down here are crazy. Like seriously insane. They push eachother out of the way for candy, even their own brothers and sisters. They run along side a bouncing, moving van and jump on the doors for it. They push you and practically tear your bag from your hands for it. If they weren’t so darn cute, it would be the most annoying thing ever…..well, it’s still a little annoying, but it is seriously cute.
Many of the kids are the most adorable things I’ve ever seen before. Brandon Oswald was holding this little girl with the BIGGEST brown eyes and longest eyelashes ever. Brandon’s not a fan of kids, but even he had to admit she was freakin’ adorable.
All of us had little tag-alongs for the days we were building in this village, like Henry, the deaf kid who communicated by yelling or throwing his arms around wildly. Or the girl who hung onto me for the entire day of dedications today, whose name I never really knew……
The kids were really darn cute.
    The old people were too………
I would warn you guys to expect a much skinnier Rebekah to return from this trip, because of all the physical labor we’ve done, but the food here is so dang good that I think I might actually gain weight!!!
I’ve discovered the amazing that is beans and rice, in all of it’s different forms. Also, they make a mean lasagna here.
    Dan has good cooks.
Even then though, I’m going through my own snacks pretty quick. There are no jelly beans left =[
So far on this trip, I’ve learned a ton about myself, and about God that could have taken me ages to realize elsewhere. I shall not post on here, partially because it’s a little personal, and partially because I’m really tired and will have to wake up early tomorrow…..
So maybe tomorrow, or maybe when I get home!!
    Good night world!

    • Karen VanSlooten says:

Glad to hear you are doing well and anxious to hear all you’ve done and learned down there. Hoping and praying you will sense God’s amazing power and all he can do through you. I’m sensing that has already happened. Love and miss you girl! “Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” Deut. 31:6

Good morning everyone – The Lord is blessing the Allendale area with a much needed storm, rain, wind, thunder and lightening. Awesome!! Thinking and praying for all of you on your last day in paradise. So proud of everyone for taking God’s leading and sharing the love of Christ with so many wonderful and beautiful people in Guatemala. Thank you all for sharing little bits and pieces of your adventure. You have been such a blessing to all of us back in the states. The world has been a better place because of your trip, due to all of us praying for you and your trip. So many more prayers have been prayed in the last week than usual. Praise the Lord! Enjoy your day shopping and relaxing with friends and family. Hugs to you all! Can’t wait to hear all about your trip when you get home. Safety, health and love to you all! Be sure to keep your hearts and minds open to what God has in store for you all in many different ways. Heaven must be celebrating about all of the new followers from Guatemala. Thank you for your role in their new lives with Christ. We will continue to pray for Nancy that God will soften her heart and have the opportunity to welcome her into His mighty fold someday. Bless you all in mighty ways!!
Hugs – Mom, Mrs. A, Lynn
