Hey mom, i hope you are doing okay. Dad and I are having a lot of fun. I keep looking out the window for you to come home, I guess I’m still getting used to you being so far away. Love you, Tyler.

    • Peggy Driesenga says:

I’ll be home before you know it buddy. Have fun with Dad … you guys can watch all the sports you want:) I am so sorry to hear about Petosky, I know how much you were looking forward to it. Sounds like the Little League game was fun, yaay for Weston! Things a going great here too. Hug Dad for me. I love you all the way to Coopersville:) -Mom

  6. Ed Driesenga says:

Hope you are feeling better, remember to try to take it easy.We are off to Tylers ballgame.I love you and be safe!!!

    • Peggy Driesenga says:

I am taking it easy today, but it feels really wrong. The bright side is there are some things I can do here to help, so I don’t feel totally useless. Hopefully I can contribute more tomorrow. Please don’t worry, I’m in good hands. I love you. You and T take care of each other:)

  7. Tyler Driesenga says:

Mom, we just got an e-mail that is very annoying and a big bummer. The Petoskey tournament is cancelled because of lack of teams. Now once your day of golf is over, you can rest. But that is the only plus I can take out of this. By the way, in my little league game, we won 9-3. I pitched the first 3 innings, struck out 3, and gave up two runs. I also got a double and to flyouts. Weston of all people hit a home run. A ground ball to third, and two errors later Weston crossed home with the biggest smile known to man. We’re havin’ fun here, hope you are to. Love you, Tyler.

  8. Jane VanderVeen says:

  9. Hi Peg!! Hope your having a wonderful time!! XO ~Cheri

  10. Peg,
I hope you’re doing well. Mom shared that you had some physical struggles before you left, but we’re praying for your health while you’re there. Remember the Lord used my sickness before I went the first time to have a major impact on my life through my trip and I pray that the same will be true for you and the rest of the team. Take time to love on the children of Guatemala.
    Blessings.

Hi Everybody, Today is day 2 — Stucco day…. and I am stucco at the base. Yesterday I got quite sick around noon and it lasted the rest of the day. (I believe it was a combination of the heat and the antibiotics.) I woke up feeling good this morning, but it was decided I should stay at the base and rest up for tomorrow. Despite getting sick, we had a great time building the homes… its amazing how quickly they go up. The kids are so friendly and sweet. I met a couple of mother’s eager to show off their beautiful babies…. so sweet. Our youth group is working really hard and its great to watch them love on all the kids. Joe is doing well…. I will nudge him to post something tonight. Thanks for your prayers, please continue to pray for health and safety for all. We can feel it when you’re praying.

  14. Cindy Driesenga says:

Hey Peg, I’m sorry yesterday afternoon was so rough – I’m praying against your sickness and asking God to strengthen you for the remainder of your time there. I know that no matter ‘where’ you are (at the base or out on the job site) you are finding a way to contribute to the needs around you. Lots of love to you … Cindy. “O Lord, may Your hand sustain Peg; may Your arm strengthen her,” Ps 89:21

  15. Rich Joslyn says:

    Hi Peg,
Sorry to hear you still aren’t feeling well. I was all ready to step in for you if you couldn’t go, guess I should have told you that! I pray after you rest today you will be able to take part in the home dedications tomorrow, it is so awesome and spiritually moving I would hate for you to miss it.
We’re all praying for the whole group and can’t wait to hear all about your week.
    God bless you,
    Sandi and Rich

  16. Theresa Charron says:

Wow Peg! I am so awed by the work you are doing! As was previously mentioned, I know you are being a witness of God’s love and faithfulness, even at the base camp. All is well here. Looking forward to seeing you next week.
    ~Theresa

  17. Tyler Driesenga says:

    Hi mom,
having fun here. We just went golfing again (with Cam and Dan this time). I finally was able to beat Dad, but Dan beat me. Now we’re watching the Tigers and getting ready to go to my pitching lesson. Stay safe, and I am sorry that you are sick.

  18. Ed Driesenga says:

Hi, glad to see you stayed at camp today. It’s about time you started listening to people when it regards your health. Like to know who is on you and Joe’s team. Hope you are feeling better and having an amazing time. I know Tyler said we went golfing and he beat me, but he cheats. We’re having lots of fun and hope you are, too. Sure hope you get to go to dedication of the homes tommorow, and I hope you see God’s hand through all the work you’re doing. Love and miss you, and please post some pictures!!

  19. Tyler Driesenga says:

I do not cheat!! Dad lies, though.

Glad to hear you are feeling better. How did dedication go today, were the Bibles recieved well. I bet it was an amazing time. Things are going good here. I bought myself a father’s day present. A dishwasher. Tyler has his first tournament game tommorow for Little league, we’ll update you tommorow. Tell Joe I love him and we’re very proud of him. We went to the family reunion tonight, everybody was wondering where you were and are praying for you guys. Cousin Curt went two years ago and said it was awesome. Kayden was hilarious, as always. He ate 2 jars of baby food!! Plus a half a watermelon. Travis found out that he loves to swing. There going to install a swing for him they think.

    Love you guys tons,
    Ed and Tyler

  28. Peggy Driesenga says:

Dedication day was awesome. We spent the first part of the day painting and decorating the houses and playing with the kids of course! The second part of the day was spent giving gifts to the family and then offering the best gift of all… salvation through Jesus Christ. As the message was presented in Spanish to each family, the team who built that family’s house was inside praying with them, the rest were outside the house praying for them. How amazing to see our kids stay focused on Jesus and pour themselves out for Him! Ed, they loved the audio bibles …. it really intrigued them. Thank your brother again for getting them. If you read Theresa’s post, you know that almost everyone accepted Christ, but one. And all of our hearts ache for that one. Please pray for Nancy, that her heart will soften and she will accept the gift of salvation. Joe is doing wonderful. I love to see him playing with the children, and pouring his heart out in prayer and song. We miss you. Ed, a dishwasher eh? I think your Father’s Day gift to yourself is better than what I would have gotten for you. (I was thinking socks?) Hug Tyler for me, praying for a good day in tournaments for him. I love you both so much!! Keep the prayers coming everybody… today is the first medical clinic. Praying to see God work in amazing ways!

  29. Tyler Driesenga says:

    Hey mom,
we’re watching the Tigers and we just saw a much bigger version of Weston. Cabrerra hit a grounder tro third, and two errors later, he crossed home plate with a smile of disbelief. As for my little league game, we lost 9-2. We faced Georgetown and they had three different pitchers who all through 65-70 mph (the Thunder’s fastest pitcher is Caleb, he throws 62 mph, and these kids all looked faster than him). Their starting pitcher was the starting pitcher for the West Michigan Outlaws team that we lost to last year. We thought he was fast for travel ball, and then put him on a 46 foot mound, he was unhittable (accept for Mike Conflitti, of course). His name was Javette, which is fun to say. Alex pitched for us, he told me he goes to pitching lessons with Rick Kreuger, too. As he was pitching, I noticed that his mechanics were what Kreuger teaches. I thought that was cool. As for my play, I struck out three times. Pitchers were just too fast for any of us (accept for Mike). However, I was able to hit two foul balls, which was rare for our team. Vega, Alex, and Bryce were the only other guys that hit foul balls even. But Mike hit a single and hit the railing on the fence. He would’ve had a home run, but the first basemen ran into him. Everyone but Jared Pitsch (the ump) called interference. But the umps call is the only one that matters, and Mike had to settle for a double. Now we play on Monday against the loser of the Hudsonville vs. Zeeland game (we’ll probably face Hudsonville). Dad got his Father’s Day present installed, it’s working good, very quiet, might I add, which is nice. We’re going to Grandpa and grandma’s tommorow for Father’s Day. I stayed for awhile afterwords, and I found out that the Minors’ division and Machine Pitch still just does the tournament within Allendale. Cam’s team won the Minors’ championship, and Austen’s team won the Machine Pitch championship. Good day for Cam and Austen. That’s how things are going here, how are they going down there? Praying for you guys, I love and miss you very much.

p.s. I’m gonna steal a line from Nick Suits and just say, “Poison Ivey is the worst thing ever!!

Good thing I don’t have it! Nick makes me laugh. Goodbye

    • Peggy Driesenga says:

Hi Honey, Sorry to hear about the Little League game, sounds like a tough team to beat. Sounds like you and Dad are keeping busy. We had an awesome day, we got to give toys and candy to kids…. how fun is that? Then we prayed for them as they heard about Jesus and prayed with them as some accepted Him into their heart. Someday you willl get a chance to do that with someone… it will be something you won’t forget. Give Dad extra hugs from Joe and I and tell him how awesome he is. I love you and miss you too. – Oh, and Nick makes me laugh too.

  31. Wendy Esposito says:

Hey Peg!! I am so glad you made it safely and have been well enough to participate. What an awesome experience for you to share with Joe. I am so proud of both of you for following your heart and going where you were lead. It sounds like amazing things are happening in Guatemala, I can’t wait to hear all about it. I am praying for your safe and healthy return! I see you have a new dishwasher, now if only they could make them with a self loading feature………………

    • Peggy Driesenga says:

Hi Squirt! Today we did a medical clinic in a small coastal village. We brought all kinds of medicines and toys and candy for the kids. After all of the patients were seeen in the clinic they show a film that tells the story of Jesus from birth to ressurection. Then some of our kids gave their testimonies… followed by an altar call. Pretty amazing to see God at work even when you really don’t understand the language. I’ll tell you about it all really soon.

  32. Sheldon Shaw says:

Thanks for all your help on this trip, Peggy! I am sorry you were feeling under the weather at first. Praying that you continue to strengthen!

  34. Sue Beltman says:

    Peg-
Sounds like you are still able to do “good work” down in Guatemala, even though you’re body may not feel as good as you would like. Some of your posts remind me of when I went with my church last year. Some of the people there will hold a special place in your heart, especially the children and the elderly. Have a safe trip back! Hope you get to see this yet before you leave to come back to Michigan. You’ve been prayed for at devotion-times @ HHM (I know, cause I was there). Take care & God Bless You and the rest of your team!

Home from the last medical clinic….. another amazing day, dispensing meds, giving out toys and candy and sharing the word of God. Our teens have poured themselves out here, each and every one of them. It has been an awesome sight to behold! Thank you all for your prayers, they have helped tremendously. Tomorrow is a slower day as we go shopping in a nearby village. ** a special note for Ed on Father’s Day…. I love you and miss you. Thanks for being a great Dad….. our boys are blessed to have you. See you soon.

Good morning everyone – The Lord is blessing the Allendale area with a much needed storm, rain, wind, thunder and lightening. Awesome!! Thinking and praying for all of you on your last day in paradise. So proud of everyone for taking God’s leading and sharing the love of Christ with so many wonderful and beautiful people in Guatemala. Thank you all for sharing little bits and pieces of your adventure. You have been such a blessing to all of us back in the states. The world has been a better place because of your trip, due to all of us praying for you and your trip. So many more prayers have been prayed in the last week than usual. Praise the Lord! Enjoy your day shopping and relaxing with friends and family. Hugs to you all! Can’t wait to hear all about your trip when you get home. Safety, health and love to you all! Be sure to keep your hearts and minds open to what God has in store for you all in many different ways. Heaven must be celebrating about all of the new followers from Guatemala. Thank you for your role in their new lives with Christ. We will continue to pray for Nancy that God will soften her heart and have the opportunity to welcome her into His mighty fold someday. Bless you all in mighty ways!!

  38. Tyler Driesenga says:

I don’t know if you’ll see this tonight or not, but, my game went awesome! We won 14-7 against Zeeland. I pitched (I wasn’t supposed to, but Aaron didn’t show), and I struck out 9 batters in four innings. I gave up four runs. I had three hits, three runs scored, and two rbis to go with it. I even got the game ball!! Our team went to Get the Scoop afterward. It was tasty. In short, I am happy right now, and so is our team. We play again Thursday, but I don’t know who against yet.

  39. Tyler Driesenga says:

    I meant we play Wednesday.
