    Hey Mitchell-
I hope you had a great trip down even though you were stuffed up. Hopefully, the Sudafed and other stuff helped you not be miserable. I am thinking of you down there and am wondering how your first day is going and what your impressions are. I hope you take a lot of video and put together something really fantastic when you get home. Can’t wait to see it. I hope you enjoy every minute of every day!

    Hello everyone,

    • Mitch Visser says:

Thank you for all the kind comments and support! I really appreciate it. Due to insanely long lines behind me for the computer, I cannot reply personally to each of your posts 😦

So far, Guatemala is amazing. It’s so different here! The villages, people, and landscape are way off from what i was picturing. In the villages, the work is no work at all because we can see what we’re doing for the people. The kids are amazing and cute, although i think they may be manipulating us on purpose to get Dulces (candy) and peluchas (stuffed animals). I gave one kid a beanie babie, he went away, hid it, and came back pretending to be a different kid so he could get another one! lol. Met a few little dudes who are pretty cool as well. We played some soccer juggling games and one kid Eddy, is better than most of our youth group at soccer, and he’s 7 hahaaha. I’m still a bit sick, but feeling better as the trip goes along.

This place is sweet, and i’m having a great time! Once again, thanks for all the kind words. When I get back I’ll share all my experiences with y’all.

      Love,
      Mitch

Hey Mitch..Hope you are feeling better. It would be very cool to see you down there. I am sure you are having a great time with the Team and with the people. Maybe a little out of the comfort zone at times, but I am sure that even makes it more interesting and life-changing. Keep the strength and continue to let that vibrant personality shine. I know that you are having such a positive affect on those you meet.

Take care and enjoy the interaction during medical clinics! Get ready to feel the impact during the Jesus Film!

  20. Mitch Visser says:

I am really impressed with how much our group got done! Five houses are built, stuccoed, and painted in just three days! I got to draw two walls for our families house, the first being Pooh Bear and the second the Precious Moments Angels.

We’ve got medical clinics today! I’m not really sure what to expect but I know it will be awesome. I also believe that today will be a lot easier compared to the first building day :), so that will be nice. I miss the kids from the other village already, my little buddies who followed me around and/or used me as a jungle gym.

It is very hot here, and today’s gonna be another warm one. I know it’s hard to believe ma, but I’ve been using sunscreen! lol.

Well that is all for now,
Thank you all for your support and comments!

    Mitch

  21. Becki Visser says:

Mitchy, I love reading your posts (yes, both of them) and can’t wait to find out more. Curious who your building group was and am wondering if Pooh Bear and Precious Moments Angels wall designs were in the same house or two different ones. I am so glad you are having this experience and know you are growing and learning from everything you experience this week. I love you. Mom

  22. Michele Huizinga says:

    Hey Mitchell 🙂

What an amazing experience!! Working on five houses in three days is awesome, and I’m sure that everyone you are meeting on your trip is being impacted by you and your group in immeasurable ways. The little things and the big things make such a difference to others by knowing that someone cares enough to travel so far to share their gifts, talents, and goodwill. Be safe, have fun and we are keeping you in love and prayers while you are away!!

Good morning everyone – The Lord is blessing the Allendale area with a much needed storm, rain, wind, thunder and lightening. Awesome!! Thinking and praying for all of you on your last day in paradise. So proud of everyone for taking God’s leading and sharing the love of Christ with so many wonderful and beautiful people in Guatemala. Thank you all for sharing little bits and pieces of your adventure. You have been such a blessing to all of us back in the states. The world has been a better place because of your trip, due to all of us praying for you and your trip. So many more prayers have been prayed in the last week than usual. Praise the Lord! Enjoy your day shopping and relaxing with friends and family. Hugs to you all! Can’t wait to hear all about your trip when you get home. Safety, health and love to you all! Be sure to keep your hearts and minds open to what God has in store for you all in many different ways. Heaven must be celebrating about all of the new followers from Guatemala. Thank you for your role in their new lives with Christ. We will continue to pray for Nancy that God will soften her heart and have the opportunity to welcome her into His mighty fold someday. Bless you all in mighty ways!!

    Thanks guys!
Oh by the way the drawings are all in the same house.

    The medical clinics were awesome!
Got to play soccer with the kids and pulled out all the moves! hahaha
We had a blast with the first group playin and i really regret quiting soccer earlier this year because it was so fun!

The village yesterday though, actually knew how to play soccer very well and we got smoked.
    Allendale – 10 Village – about 48.

And it rained a ton so when you’d go in to kick you’d slip and get soaked and dirty. But it was still fun, and i enjoyed it even though we got killed lol.

The film and Hermano Jesus preaching was very moving, along with our singing praise. It was crazy seeing all the distractions going on around us that the enemy was trying to throw at us, but we all prayed and eventually everything calmed down and it was just us, the people, and the spirit of God.

Today was also awesome! Had a blast shopping and bartering with the people. Never thought i would enjoy sghopping but somehow i did. I wish we bartered in America! I think i am going to try it once I get back.

    That’s all for now,

    Mitch

    Hey Mitch:
Wish I would have gotten on earlier to watch your progress. I did pray for you all week. I didn’t need to read the BLOGS to be proud of the young man you have become. Keep your love for the Lord and your passion alive. Imagine the mountains you can move! Look forward to hearing more about the trip when everyone arrives home and gets settled in. Blessings to you – safe travels as you arrive in just a few short hours! Much love and admiration.
